When your car is your workplace, keeping it clean isn’t just about looks. Passengers notice a fresh, tidy car — and they notice a dirty one even more.
Here’s a simple routine that keeps an Uber or taxi passenger-ready without taking over your day.
Every shift: the two-minute check
Before you start driving, take two minutes to:
- Clear the rubbish from door pockets, seat pockets, cup holders and the floor
- Wipe the touchpoints passengers use — rear door handles, seatbelt buckles, window switches and any screens
- Check the back seat for crumbs, marks or anything left behind
- Open the boot — passengers with luggage will see it
- Air the car out for a minute, especially after a hot day
Keep a small kit in the boot: a microfibre cloth, interior wipes, a rubbish bag and a spare air freshener.
Every week: a proper wash
A weekly wash keeps grime from building up and stops the car looking tired. Our Foam Wash is a good fit for drivers because it covers the outside and the inside in one go:
- Foam pre-soak and hand wash
- Chamois dry, with door jambs washed and dried
- Interior vacuum
- Air freshener
It’s gentle on the paint too, which matters when the car is washed often (more in what is a foam car wash).
Every month or two: the interior
Seats and carpets take the most punishment in an Uber or taxi. Spills, food and wet days add up, and fabric holds on to smells.
- If the car just needs a refresh, a Mini Detail includes an upholstery clean of the dashboard, console and doors, a full interior Armor All and a shampoo of all the mats.
- If the seats are stained or there’s a smell that won’t shift, an interior shampoo cleans the seats and floor properly. You can also shampoo individual seats if only one or two need it.
Dealing with odours
Air fresheners only cover a smell for so long. If an odour keeps coming back — food, smoke, a spill that soaked in — it’s usually living in the seats or carpet. A shampoo removes the source rather than masking it.
Protect the paint
Washing often is good for business, but washing badly can leave swirl marks that make the car look older than it is. A few tips:
- Avoid brush-type automatic washes where you can
- Get bird droppings and sap off quickly — they mark the paint in the heat
- Consider a hand polish a couple of times a year to bring back the gloss
Wash between fares — with driver rates
White Diamond offers special rates for Uber and taxi drivers at all three locations. Proof is required — just show our team your Uber driver app or taxi driver authority. See driver rates for details.
There are no bookings, and two locations never close, so you can wash whenever your shift ends:
- Haberfield — Parramatta Road, open 24/7
- Belmore — Canterbury Road, open 24/7
- Guildford — Rawson Road, open 8am–10pm daily
